Learning to See

When we look at something our brain usually just glances.

The brain will look, recognise a teapot, and file it away in a mental drawer labeled ‘Teapot’.

That’s how the brain works.

But when we draw something we don’t look in the drawer labeled ‘Teapot’, we have to really look. We have to slow down and observe, begin to see what’s actually there, not just what the brain thinks is there.

Drawing takes back control…
